Showing some LOVE and having some FUN!

We had a LOT of fun this month at Tender Tots! We made Valentines! The kids LOVED using their scissors and especially they LOVED the GLITTER! But hey--who doesn't LOVE glitter! They decorated hearts and more hearts and more hearts! They also made very special Valentine's Day Cards!

After the cards and hearts were done the kids decorated heart sugar cookies! The cookies looked amazing!

Quite the little artists!
*
Anika helped by frosting and EATING two cookies! Thanks little one!
*
We then took a plate of cookies and our valentines and decorated some doors of people we wanted to show love to! I forgot to take any pictures during the decorating process so here is one of Makadie and Anika in front of one of the finished doors!

We had some extra cookies and valentines, so some of the kids took supplies home to share the love some more with others~

Thanks to all who came and helped make this month's activity a success! We look forward to seeing you for next months Tender Tots activity!!

Reminder!

I just wanted to post a reminder about this Friday's activity!

We will be making Valentine's and decorating Valentine cookies to deliver to some people who need a little extra love in their lives!

I know that most of the schools are not in session this Friday, so older siblings and friends are invited to come. The more the merrier--or lovier since it's Valentines right!

If possible please let me know if you CAN or CANNOT make it--thanks! Also if you have any valentine making supplies please bring them!

See you Friday Feb 12th at 10:00 am at my house! If you need my address please call 303-362-1914 or email at roniandcoleman@gmail.com. Remember friends are always invited to come with you!

Tender Tots needs some feedback!

I wanted to get some input from you parents out there! Here are some questions I want you to answer if you can!
  1. What day of the week works best for you to meet for Tender Tots?
  2. Would you like your school age kids to be able to be involved?
  3. If so, would you prefer a Saturday activity or an after school activity?
  4. What times work best for you? Mornings, afternoon, evenings? Specific times?
  5. Do you have any ideas for service projects that you would like your children to be involved in?
  6. Do you have any ideas for recruiting new members to Tender Tots?

Thanks for all of your help and input! I look forward to serving with you and with your children. To answer questions feel free to comment on this blog post or to email me at roniandcoleman@gmail.com.

Thanks again!

Showing LOVE this February!

For February we will be meeting at my home on Friday February 12th at 10:00 am. We will be making valentines to give to those who need love. We will also decorate hearts and cookies to deliver to 2 homes that need some love. We will Heart-attack the doors and leave cookies at these homes. If you want to know what heart-attacking is--let me know! If you have someone you would like to heart-attack or give cookies to, we can make enough for you to take with you~

This month we wanted to focus on service that we can do that is not just collecting money or supplies for a cause. Though these are important and helpful, we wanted the kids to know that you can do service for others by showing love and kindness, not just by money!

If you have any card making or valentine making supplies, please bring them with you! (Such as paper, glue, glitter, stickers, scissors, etc!)

We hope to see you a week from today!

Helping Haiti this January

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' Humanitarian Center sends relief all over the world to those in need, whether for disaster or poverty. They are sending huge amounts of supplies to Haiti and are in need of more. The Church's Humanitarian Center is sending most of its hygiene kits and newborn kits to Haiti, these are the two kits we are going to help replenish.

This month for Tender Tots we will be collecting some of the supplies that are needed for these kits. We will meet at my house on Thursday January 28th at 10:30 am to allow the children to sort through and organize the items, so that they may see they help that they are offering. We will also briefly talk about what they are doing, why, and who the items will be helping. We will then carpool to the church where the items are being collected (which is only 2 blocks from my house). If you are unable to meet with us on the 28th please drop off the items that you have collected at my house. Also if you are unable to collect anyitems, you can donate money on the LDS Humanitarian Services site, or to Tender Tots, and we will purchase additional supplies.

Here is the list of items we are collecting:
  • unbreakable combs (no sharp points)
  • toothbrushes (in package)
  • toothpaste 6-8 oz tubes (no pumps)
  • soap 4-5 oz (packaged)
  • Baby items
  • double receiving blankets
  • flat fold cloth diapers (not pre-folded or disposable)
  • safety pins
  • booties
  • socks
  • layette gowns (no footed sleepers)
  • ivory soap

Here are some links on the Church's Humanitarian Center and their efforts in Haiti. I love donating to the Church's programs because we know that 100 % of what we donate goes to help. The Church is staffed with volunteers not salaried personnel.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Tender Tots of Lakewood friends!

Well I have decided that taking over Tender Tots in December was a little crazy! Only crazy because I did not have time to organize and do a service project.

So for this month we are going to do individual service on our own! If you see a need in your family or community see what you can do to help.

When 2010 gets here I will get things planned and we sill start recruiting and serving again.

Until then be safe and warm and enjoy spending the Holidays with those you love.

Welcome to Tender Tots of Lakewood!

Holly has done an amazing job organizing Tender Tots! We have had a lot of fun participating in the projects she has planned!

We are sad to see her and her family leave, but are excited for the new adventures they will have!

We will get more information on this blog about Tender Tots soon! Until then check the current Tender Tots website that Holly has set up to get information about November's service opportunity! http://tendertots.blogspot.com/
